On Sunday, March 17, in Drogenbos (Belgium), the FeliX Art & Eco Museum opened the exhibition “Futuromarennia: Ukraine and the Avant-Garde”, in which 16 works from the NAMU collection are presented. In particular, the European public will see the works of Viktor Palmov, Oleksandr Bogomazov, Anatoly Petrytskyi, Vasyl Yermilov and many others.
The exposition of the exhibition is based on the study of futurism and the related cultural experience of the Ukrainian avant-garde, which was conducted by the Art Arsenal in Kyiv in 2019–2021. Today, “Futuromarenya” has become a series of projects that have been changing and implemented in Kyiv (Art Arsenal), Tallinn (KUMU Art Museum) and currently – in Drogenbos (FeliX Art & Eco Museum).
In the Belgian version of Futuromarenya, the emphasis is on the self-sufficiency of Ukrainian futurism. Despite the fact that the artists of the 1910s created in a common cultural space with the Russians, they were primarily associated with Ukraine and were the leaders of European ideas. So this project “Futuromarenya” is not only about art, but also about Ukrainian heritage, Ukrainian identity and an artistic vision of the future.
📌 The project was implemented by the Museum of Contemporary Art FeliX Art & Eco Museum and the Art Arsenal in partnership with the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Museum of Theater, Music and Cinema of Ukraine, the Art Museum of the City of Dnipro, the Dovzhenko Center, the National Research and Restoration Center of Ukraine, the Central State Archive – the Museum of Literature and Art of Ukraine, the Kharkiv Private Museum of the City Manor, the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion, Valentina Kostyukova and Tetyana Kara-Vasilyeva.
📌 The exhibition in Belgium will last until September 8, 2024.
📌 Curators: Olga Melnyk, Ihor Oksametny with the participation of Victoria Velichko.
🖼️ We would like to add that the FeliX Art & Eco Museum of Modern Art printed the catalog “Futuromarenia” especially for this exhibition. So visitors to the project will be the first to browse and purchase a limited edition of this publication.
