“Birdie” workshop

“Birdie” workshop

To mark the International Children’s Day, we have prepared a new workshop for you. It will be of interest to both children and adults, and will also be a good reason to spend time together.

We continue to study the structure of the form and this time we invite you to draw a bird using ovals. Our inspiration was the titmouse from the painting by Fedir Krychevskyi, in which he depicted his son Roman together with the bird.

Often young art lovers think that drawing a bird is a difficult and big task, but we will show you how to cope with it by dividing it into stages. You can draw any other bird in the same way. So, get your art supplies ready and plan time to create together!

Work progress:
– as always, we start with the layout, determining the location and size of the future image;
– outline the main line of movement and an additional one (for example, the direction of the torso and head);
– on the directions indicated by the lines, we apply a larger oval for the body and a smaller oval and triangle for the head and beak;
– draw an additional line for the direction of the tail and denote its volume with an elongated rectangle;
– refine the edges of the form and details;
– fill the form with color and gradually build up the tone in the chosen technique;
– in the end, we finalize the details and balance the tones.

Watch the detailed process in the video on the NAMU YouTube channel.

❕ And we will be glad to see your drawings! Share them on social media and tag museum pages @namu.museum, @osvita.namu, to receive a nice bonus.

Have fun drawing!

The workshop was prepared by Kateryna Bruievych, a researcher at the NAMU Research and Education Department.
