Lecture “Oleksandr Atsmanchuk and Odesa (un)official art”

Lecture “Oleksandr Atsmanchuk and Odesa (un)official art”

At the lecture, we will talk about the famous artist Oleksandr Atsmanchuk. He was considered an “official” artist, as the artist belonged to the Union of Artists and executed state commissions. But when you look at his works and, in general, the works of Odesa artists of the post-war generation, you do not immediately understand what their involvement is.

At the lecture, we offer to look at the works of Oleksandr Atsmanchuk and his circle, whose active creative life fell on the 1950s-1970s. We will see how his manner changed from academic to symbolic within the “realist” school of painting and what creative drama befell the artist in the last years of his life.

How “official” and “unofficial” art differed, how these communities were connected and what their differences were, what aesthetic tasks the artists of these communities set before themselves, we will learn at Anna Aliieva’s lecture on June 7 at 5:00 p.m.
