An artist of light, a talented portraitist, a bright representative of Ukrainian modernism – Oleksandr Murashko was truly an extraordinary personality. Working at the turn of the epochs, he very subtly sensed the changes in the Ukrainian artistic environment. In Murashko’s work, the classic academic school and new European art met. In between, he never stopped his original quest.
From Munich and Paris to his native Kyiv, the artist received well-deserved recognition everywhere. As an artist and as a teacher, with his tireless work, he encouraged others to have a free artistic view. And until the end, he remained at the epicenter of the national revival of Ukrainian art.
Today Oleksandr Murashko is one of the most favorite Ukrainian artists among our visitors. What is the phenomenon of this artist, that he continues to fascinate us even a century after his life? Learn about this and much more at next Friday’s lecture.
