An active member of the Creative Youth Club "Sveminin" (1960 - 1964), Alla Horska became the driving force of a group of artists, writers and theater actors who sought artistic freedom in the dogmatic Soviet world, sought to renew the artistic language, by turning to banned modernist art, folk art and sought the truth about the crimes of the 1930s. Powerful, courageous, attentive and gentle at the same time, Horska rightfully became a symbol of change and determination in Ukrainian art.

As part of a new lecture series titled "Ukrainian Art: Figures Against the Background of Epochs," museum scholars will focus on those prominent figures who shaped the development of Ukrainian art. The 15 lectures will cover the period from antiquity to the end of the twentieth century, and will focus on different art centers and the contribution of different communities to the rich artistic palette of Ukraine.

We invite you to a three-day program on February 1, 2 and 3, during which the famous artist, researcher and curator Andrii Boiarov will present the work of Lviv modernists. This is an unprecedented event, because the museum collection was replenished in the midst of a full-scale war with works from a period that is practically not represented in our collection. The two presented works - Margit Selska and Lyuna-Amalia Drexler are the starting point of the conversation about the phenomenon of women artists of the "artes" association and their work in the circle of Lviv modernism.

Museum lecture hall: full ticket — 250 UAH, discounted ticket (students, schoolchildren, pensioners) — 150 UAH.
The cost of participation in the master class is 200 UAH per person, the master class and mini-lecture — UAH 250, only the mini-lecture without the master class — UAH 100.
Guided tours are currently unavalable. However, different events take place in the museum every week, which you can find out about in the “News and events” section.
We humbly ask you to adhere to the following rules while visiting the museum:
– Outer clothing and umbrellas are to be left at the cloak room. Separate cabinets are reserved for large bags
– Photos and videos are allowed without flashes, provided that the use is non-commercial
– Do not approach the exhibits closer than 40 cm (15,7 inches)
– No food and beverages are allowed in the museum halls
– Do not touch the art/exhibits
– Do not enter the museum with pets or other animals
In case of the air raid alert, the events are suspended, and all visitors must proceed to the nearest bomb shelters – the underground passage under the European Square (Yevropeiska ploshcha) or the “Maidan Nezalezhnosti” metro station.
