On November 25, we invite you to the National Art Museum of Ukraine for the presentation and screening of the first episodes of the documentary series “Art in a Country of War”, a joint project of the documentary film studio DocNoteFilms and the independent filmmakers’ association BABYLON’13.
What is the place of the artist and art in a country at war? What can art do in times of war? The creators of the project “Art in the Country at War” are looking for answers to these questions. Each of the 25 episodes of the series tells the story of one of the Ukrainian artists who did not go abroad and continued their creative career in Ukraine.
The characters in the series include artists Kateryna Kosianenko and Mykola Ridnyi, graphic artists Olesia Dzhuraieva and Viacheslav Snisarenko, composer Oleksii Shmurak, poet Svitlana Povaliaieva, and others. The geography of the project covers not only Kyiv as filming also took place in Uzhhorod, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Poltava, and other cities.
Guests and characters at the first screening – Alevtyna Kakhidze and Taras Kobliuk and Nina Savenko (“Litografiia 30” group). In addition to watching two episodes of the series, we will talk to the artists and authors of the project.
