Unfinished stories: new works from the collection. Anna Myronova. Between the strokes

Dear friends, we are happy to invite you to the sixth event within the cycle “Unfinished stories: new works from the collection”, dedicated to the graphic works of Kyiv artist Anna Myronova.

The sheets of the series “Between the Strokes” and the drawing “Transparent”, which recently entered the museum collection, were created between 2015 and 2017. Despite the visual objectlessness, the composition of the artist’s graphic works is based on a clearly defined object – the natural environment. This love of nature appeared in Anna Myronova since childhood, from trips with her parents outside the city, and later turned into a passion for drawing from nature. As the artist mentions in one of her interviews, she was influenced by the Impressionists, Monet in particular, so she imitates them in her work.

Anna Myronova achieves remarkable expressiveness and emotionality of the image, using only paper and pencil. In the series “Between the Strokes”, the artist transforms the natural environment into a personal sensual space, where a whole world exists between the densely applied strokes on the surface.

However, it is difficult to write about the works of the Kyiv artist, as they require direct communication. As Anna Myronova herself notes, cooperation with the viewer is important to her, a certain co-creation, the basis of which is the artist’s graphic works. So we invite you this Saturday, November 18, to a conversation with the artist, where we will talk about graphic techniques and their possibilities, about the feelings and emotions created by the works and about what can be seen “between the strokes” of the works. And after the talk, a musical evening awaits you from the Red Cat duo (violin and cello) with the support of the Son-tse company.

2:00 p.m. – communication with mediators, everyone will be able to ask their questions, talk about the works, share their thoughts and impressions.

4:30 p.m. – artist-talk with Anna Myronova.

5:00 p.m. – a musical evening by the Red Cat duo (violin and cello) with the support of the Son-tse company.

📌 Cost: visiting the exposition – 60 UAH, presentations (including artist-talk and musical evening) – 90 UAH.
