What’s in your heart? This is a complex and personal question that became an inspiration for artists of different eras and genres. Everyone has their own answer to it.
In Ukrainian philosophical thought, in particular in Hryhorii Skovoroda, we find considerations about the heart as the “abyss” of the human soul, through which the divine “depth” opens. The heart is a symbol of what is called the soul, the center of the human in a person. The center of all actions of the soul.
Anastasiia Poderevianska’s exhibition “Needle work” features two works “Artist’s Heart” and “Heart” from the “Inner World” series, where the author explores the symbolism of body parts and anatomy, which was formed in European culture.
We will start with a mini-lecture where we will talk about the symbolism of the human body in European culture, and then we will create a visual representation of the world of our heart in mixed media.
